Shannon (she/they) is a 9th grade English teacher for a public, non-profit charter in San Francisco, where they serve predominantly working-class communities of color.
After completing their BA in English Education at San Francisco State University, they went on to earn a Masters from UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Education.
Inside the classroom, they strive to bring an equity lens to their pedagogy. Shannon’s classroom is full of vibrant colors, petite cacti, and a budding library. In order to hold space for queer and trans youth, they host a Queer Straight Alliance each week.
Outside the classroom, you can usually find Shannon taking portraits of their friends, snacking on boba and skateboarding down the block, or hiking through the Presidio.
